 Sprinkler Damage 1

A few weeks ago, we sent you a message to let you know about our sprinkler malfunction in the Visitor Center

Thank you to everyone who has stopped in to help, or sent in a donation to support our recovery efforts!

Things are coming along well and we are on-track for the Visitor Center to be re-opened in the next few months.

There’s still a lot of decisions to be made, including flooring on the 2nd floor!

Since the incident on May 3, we have remained open to the public and have moved
our offices and Gift Shop to the Hunting Shanty.

We’ve been able to continue all our regularly scheduled programming:

20 schools have visited the Seaport with over 1200 students learning about
the art, history and environment of South Jersey

Our partner the Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve has coordinated
new programming outside, while their exhibit is being repaired

We welcomed over 50 participants to our monthly Lunch n’ Learn program, held in Skeeters Restaurant,
which has been the site of adult classes and the Pickin’ on the Porch music jam

We’ve held two events, Boat Show and Armed Forces Day and Pirates and Privateers Festival

Drywall and insulation have been installed on all three floors, and painting will begin this week!

We’ve got lots of great events coming up soon, and hope you’ll come visit us this summer!

And while you’re here, be sure to visit Hester Sedge Gun Club, newly re-opened post- Superstorm Sandy!
