Tuckerton Seaport Community Garden 2017
Starting Saturday April 29th 2017 at 10AM
The Tuckerton Seaport Community Garden is about to kick off, bringing the community together to grow and harvest food which is donated to the Tuckerton Food Pantry! Bring your family and friends to learn how to grow food organically and give back to the community. The first day in the garden we will be cleaning out the beds and preparing the soil for planting. Then volunteers will plant frost tolerant crops including; cabbage, kale, peas, radishes, parsley, lettuce, spinach, swiss chard, and beets. The next planting will be May 13th 2017 and we will plant corn, cucumbers, eggplant, squash, beans, peppers, potatoes, garlic and melons. Get your hands in the dirt and enjoy the experience of harvesting your first tomato, ear of corn or head of cabbage. This year the garden is growing in size, now including six (6) four foot by twenty foot raised garden beds. That’s an additional 96 square feet of growing space from last year! We will also be installing a drip irrigation system to make watering more efficient and effective. Harvesting will take place every Saturday at 10AM. Volunteers needed!
