Little Free Library at Tuckerton Seaport

Join Tuckerton Seaport on the Saturday following Thanksgiving, November 25th at Noon for the grand opening of the Little Free Library at Tuckerton Seaport & Baymen’s Museum, Chart #66604.  Located on the Visitor Center front porch, the Little Free Library provides a neighborhood sharing program for book lovers of all ages.  Participating is easy.  Just stop by the Visitor Center any time and pick up or drop off an adult or children’s book.  The Little Free Library will be open 24/7.  Tuckerton Seaport is proud to serve as a community museum and community center.  The Little Free Library Program is a new outlet for the Seaport to help fulfill its goal of supporting our community by inspiring the next generation.  We believe in the joy and power of sharing books.

How did this project start in Tuckerton?  Kean University Junior Jacquelyn Dringus, Manahawkin resident and Seaport volunteer, was looking for a way to give back in her community as part of her Kappa Delta Pi/Delta Rho Chapter duties.  Jackie is majoring in special education and knows how learning to enjoy reading early can make learning more fun and students more successful.  According the Department of Education, 61% of families do not have access to books in their home.  What began as an idea for a book drive quickly grew into a plan to launch the Little Free Library at Tuckerton Seaport to have a permanent impact.

Your family is invited to join Jackie on Saturday, November 25th at Noon at Tuckerton Seaport to kick-off the Little Free Library, enjoying stories, crafts, and refreshments.  Admission is complimentary with a book donation.  Plan to spend the day exploring the Seaport, climbing the lighthouse, feeding the goat and sheep, playing mini-golf, and meeting the decoy carver and blacksmith.

Book donations are accepted daily in the Seaport Gift Shop front porch drop box.  Share a photo on our Facebook page donating your favorite book with #TuckertonSeaport #ShelfieSelfie.  Special thanks to RealityMoms.Rocks and Rae Miller with Usborne Books & More for sending the first book donations to the Seaport to jump start this program.

The Little Free Library is a national program created to build community, spark creativity, and inspire readers.  The Seaport is proud to be a registered location for a Little Free Library.  This program has inspired over 50,000 book exchange locations across the country, acting as a catalyst for community building.  To find other locations, please visit
